Salsa is an easy and delicious dip for tortilla chips and nachos made with tomatoes, onion, jalapeños and cilantro with a dash of lime juice. This recipe is simple, quick and can be made in a jiffy; just pulse all ingredients together in a mixer or food processor and add to your favorite mexican dish. I have used fresh tomatoes, you can use canned tomatoes as well. Come, let’s see how to make fresh salsa at home with easy method and step by step pictures.
Fresh Salsa | Restaurant style
Ingredients
- Tomatoes – 1 cup (OR) Canned Tomatoes – 1 can
- Red onion – 1/2
- Capsicum/ Green bell pepper – 1/4
- Jalapeños – 1 (OR) Pickled jalapeños – 1 tbsp
- Cilantro – 1/4 cup
- Salt – as required
- Pepper powder – as required
- Lime juice – 1 tbsp
Directions
- Finely chop the tomato, onion, capsicum, jalapenos and cilantro and add to a mixer or food proessor along with salt, pepper and lime juice and pulse for a few seconds until desired consistency is reached.
- Transfer to a bowl and serve with nachos/ tortilla chips or add to your favourite Mexican dish. Delicious Restaurant style Salsa is ready to serve!
Notes
- I used fresh tomatoes, you can use canned ones for bright red colour.
- If using raw jalapeños, deseed and add to avoid excess heat and spice.
- I added lemon juice since I did not have lime.
- Do not add water while pulsing as it will make the salsa runny. Tomatoes and lime juice are enough to make the salsa in the right consistency
- Do not store the salsa for a long time as the colour and taste might change.
