Mango Falooda/ Fallooda is a delicious dessert made with ripe mangoes, basil/ chia seeds, vermicelli, mango jello, milk and ice cream served in layers. I have always had a fascination for falooda from my childhood: my dad and I used to go to a famous falooda shop in Chennai T-Nagar where we get tall glass of falooda for Rs. 50 ($0.75). The taste of the basil seeds, vermicelli and soft ice cream still lingers like it is yesterday. I could not find a falooda like that here in the US, so I decided to make my own.
Mango Falooda is a great way to enjoy the summer and also to use the mango in stock. You can freshly make it at home with a few ingredients; it is time to say goodbye to the restaurant bought falooda. Come, let’s see how to make the popular mango falooda at home with easy method and step by step pictures.

Notes
- You can use unroasted vermicelli/ semiya if you do not have falooda sev. Boil the vermicelli till soft, strain and refrigerate until use.
- Chia seeds and basil (sabja) seeds have similar texture and health benefits; so you can use either of them depending on availability. I used chia seeds.
- You can boil 2 cups of milk till it reduces to 1.5 cups and then add 3 tbsp condensed milk instead of sugar for thick and rich texture.
- Adjust sugar in the milk according to desired sweetness.
- You can replace the milk with dairy free alternative for a vegan mango falooda
- You can skip mango jelly if you do not have and add more mango pieces instead.
