Ingredients

  • Dosa batter – 1 cup
  • Pizza sauce- 3 tbsp
  • Ketchup- 1 tbsp
  • Salt- a pinch
  • Grated mozzarella cheese- 1/2 cup
  • Red chilli flakes- as required
  • Italian seasoning- as required
  • Oil- 2 tsp (to make the dosa)

Toppings:

  • Onion- 1/2
  • Tomato- 1 small
  • Boiled Sweet corn- 1/4 cup
  • Capsicum- 1/4
  • Sliced pickled jalapeños- 1 tbsp
  • Sliced black olives- 1 tbsp

Directions

1. Finely chop onion, tomato and capsicum and boil sweet corn and set aside

2. Mix the pizza sauce, tomato ketchup and a pinch of salt in a bowl; the sauce for pizza dosa is ready.

3. Heat a tawa on medium flame till it is slightly hot. Add 1/4 tsp oil on it and spread it throughout using a small tissue paper. Keep the flame in low.

4. Take out the dosa batter and mix well. Add 1.5 ladles of dosa batter to the center of the tawa and spread it slightly along the edges to form a medium circle. It should be thick and uniform. (NOTE: The tawa should not be very hot. If it is so, the batter will not spread properly. Instead it will stick to the ladle itself. If the tawa is so hot, reduce the flame and sprinkle little water and spread well. When the tawa is dry, add the batter)

5. After 10 seconds, spread 1 tbsp of sauce uniformly on the dosa while the batter is moist

6. Add the toppings on the sauce in a sprinkled manner and add 1/2 tsp oil along the edges of the dosa. Cover with a glass lid as shown and allow to cook on low flame.

7. When the edges turn golden and the dosa is cooked well on all sides, slightly lift the dosa from the pan to loosen the contact and place it back. Do not flip

8. Sprinkle red chilli flakes and Italian seasoning and add grated mozzarella cheese

9. Close with glass/ metal lid and allow the cheese to melt, for about a minute. Make sure the flame is low throughout as the dosa might get burnt. Remove on a plate, slice with pizza cutter and serve. Delicious cheesy pizza dosa is ready to eat!

Notes

  • Mixing the ketchup and pizza sauce gives a nice flavor to the dosa compared to using only pizza sauce
  • Make dosa with medium and uniform thickness for even cooking, do not make the dosa too thick
  • Allow the dosa to cook well before adding the cheese, since we are not flipping it
  • Using a glass or metal lid helps in even cooking
  • Add the toppings when the dosa batter is moist for the vegetables to stick well
  • You can also add toppings like fried paneer, coloured bell peppers etc
